Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Venn LLC (“Venn”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our application (“Service”).

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly: your email address, display name, date of birth, gender, gender preferences, location (city and state), bio, photos, and interest tags. We also collect usage data such as interactions with other users (likes, passes, matches, messages), device information, and IP addresses associated with your sessions.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: (a) create and maintain your account; (b) match you with other users based on shared interests and preferences; (c) display your profile to other users; (d) facilitate messaging between matched users; (e) enforce our Terms of Service; (f) improve and personalize the Service; and (g) communicate with you about your account or the Service.

3. Information Sharing

Your profile information (display name, photos, bio, age, city, and interest tags) is visible to other users of the Service. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share information with: (a) service providers who assist in operating the Service (hosting, analytics); (b) law enforcement when required by law, pursuant to a valid legal process, or when we have a reasonable belief that disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm to any person; (c) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; and (d) safety organizations or researchers in anonymized or aggregated form.

4. Location Data

If you provide your city and state, we use this to show your general location to other users and to improve match relevance. We do not track your real-time GPS location continuously.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text. Authentication tokens are generated securely and stored encrypted on your device. While we implement reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, photos, matches, conversations, and messages. Some data may be retained in backups for a limited period or as required by law.

7. Your Rights

You may: (a) access and update your profile information at any time through the app; (b) delete your account and all associated data; (c) request a copy of your data by contacting us. If you are in a jurisdiction with additional privacy rights (such as the EU or California), you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, including the right to erasure, portability, and objection to processing.

8. Safety and Reporting Data

When you report or block another user, we store that information to protect community safety, enforce our Terms of Service, and improve the Service. Report data — including the reason, any description you provide, and the reported user's identity — may be shared with law enforcement if we believe there is an imminent threat to the safety of any person. The reported user is not notified of who filed a report. When you block a user, that user can no longer view your profile, send you messages, or appear in your Discover or Explore feeds.

9. Biometric and Verification Data

If you opt into identity verification, we collect a selfie photograph. This image is used solely to verify that you are a real person and that your profile photos represent you. Verification selfies are stored securely and are deleted when you delete your account. We do not use facial recognition technology to identify you across other services. We do not sell, lease, or trade biometric data. If you reside in a jurisdiction with biometric data laws (such as Illinois, Texas, or Washington), you consent to the collection and use of your verification selfie as described in this section.

10. Cookies and Tracking

The Venn mobile app does not use cookies. We may use analytics tools to understand usage patterns and improve the Service. These tools collect anonymized data and do not identify you personally.

11. Children's Privacy

Venn is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a user under 18, we will delete that account and information promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
